Web Beacon Specifications
Web Beacon data will be transmitted to AOL by placing a small JavaScript tag (Insight Agent) on each page of your site(s) that will pass details about the specific visit and/or page view to the AOL servers. In response, the AOL servers will set cookies on the visitor’s system in the aol.com or tacoda.net domain.
Only the following information is passed to AOL:
• Content category of the page
• Visitor identifier (TID)
• Unique site identifier
• Domain of the specific website.
There are two types of insight tags, one is the standard tag that goes on most web pages, and the other is the SSL tag for secure pages. Please note that the secure (SSL) insight tag is only for secure pages and will not work properly if placed on non-secure pages. Please let us know if you have secure pages and would like the SSL insight tag sent to you.
Sample Tags:
1. SAMPLE insight tag for non-secure web pages
var tcdacmd=“dt” ;
2. SAMPLE insight tag for secure web pages (SSL)
var tcdacmd="dt";
Please do not use any tags from this document on your site. Tags customized for your site will be provided in a separate file. Note that the highlighted word, SiteID will be replaced with information specific to your site.
A designated value from the page will pass along information to the JavaScript about the specific content of the page. AOL will dynamically map these values to the behavioral categories of the TACODA Audience Network. During the implementation phase, a Site Support manager will work with you to determine the optimal mapping source based on your site structure.
Insight Tag Deployment
Paste the tag into the page or template at the very bottom of the page, while remaining within the tags at all times
